Match-Ups
5.00 units Carl Edwards(-140@wsex)over Jeff Burton
Think this maybe Edwards time to shine, its been awhile since he has found victory lane in the Cup Series. This has been a Ford dominated track for quite sometime and I hoping that trend continues. The 99 was quickest in both Saturday practice sessions and if you take in all laps ran in Happy Hour he had the 8th best average. His five starts here has resulted in four Top 10's and three of those were Top 5's.
On the other side Burton has been floundering a bit. You have to go back eight races to find his last Top 10 finish and you have to go back four years to find his last Top 10 at Michigan. All that make Edwards my top pick today.
3.00 units Clint Bowyer(-120@wsex)over Mark Martin
Bowyer has not fared well in his only two starts at Michigan but today, with any luck, should put an end to that streak. Been bad fast in practice and his overall lap average in Happy Hour was 3rd best. Has four Top 10's in his last five starts. Martin is very consistent and will probably run Top 15 today but I think Bowyer can be Top 5 or better.
3.00 units Sterling Marlin(-105@wsex)over Ricky Rudd
Not one of your marquee match-ups but it appeals to me.I've played Sterling three or four times this year and he has come through every time. Ginn is putting things together and can see improvement in all three teams. The 14 has had good runs at Darlington and Dover recently and think they have enough to beat this 88 team who only has one finish better than 26th in the last eight races(albeit a good one-7th at Charlotte).
3.00 units Ryan Newman(+105@sportsbook.com)over Greg Biffle
The only thing that keeps this from being a bigger play is Biffle's history at Michigan(five straight finishes of 7th or better). But this team has been very unreliable in '07 and Newman/Penske looks to have turned the corner with five of the last six races resulting in Top 10's.
3.00 units Bobby Labonte(+150@wsex)over Jamie McMurray
Was on McMurray about every week for the first three months of the season but he seems to have back tracked the last 5 or 6 races. Labonte on the other hand has been consistently in the Top 20 if not 15 and has been competitive in a good many races. This line should not be this high.
Props
3.00 units Martin Truex(6 to 5@wsex) to win group
over McMurray/Sadler/Sorenson/Riggs
Once again like last week, this looks too easy. The odds are not great but if they want to give away money I'll take it. If Truex finishes and has no problems he will easily out run these guys.
1.00 unit Casey Mears(25 to 1@wsex)to win group
over Burton/Newman/Ku.Busch/Bowyer
At this price I'll Take a shot.
